🎙️ RTS Podcast Spotlight: Sepideh Farsi and the Story of a Fallen Voice from Gaza

Podcast Title: L’invitĂ©e – Sepideh Farsi, rĂ©alisatrice de Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk
Hosted by: Karine Vasarino – Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS)
Guest: Sepideh Farsi, Iranian filmmaker and director

In a profoundly moving episode of RTS’s podcast “L’invitée,” filmmaker Sepideh Farsi joins host Karine Vasarino to reflect on her latest documentary: Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk. This work stands not only as a cinematic achievement but as a lasting testimony of resilience, friendship, and tragic loss.

🎥 The Story Behind the Film

Over the course of a year, Farsi exchanged video messages with Fatem, a young Palestinian photojournalist in Gaza. These intimate and courageous exchanges formed the heart of the documentary, offering a rare, unfiltered glimpse into daily life under siege, seen through the lens of a woman determined to document truth.

But on April 16, 2025, tragedy struck. Just hours after learning that the film had been selected for the Cannes Film Festival, Fatem and her entire family were killed in an Israeli airstrike.

“She had just heard the news… that the film was going to Cannes. And a few hours later, she was gone,” Farsi recounts, her voice marked by sorrow and defiance.

🎬 A Tribute Through Art

Farsi’s film becomes a posthumous tribute to Fatem’s strength and humanity. It underscores the power of storytelling in times of devastation — and the urgency of listening to voices from places that many choose to ignore.

The episode also brings attention to the growing global call for action. As more civilians fall victim to violence in Gaza, international solidarity efforts are gaining momentum.

🕊️ March to Gaza – A Global Citizen Movement

Farsi highlights the upcoming Global March to Gaza, set for June 15, a peaceful initiative calling for:

  • A permanent ceasefire

  • Humanitarian corridors through open borders

  • An end to the blockade

Among the participants will be Swiss political figure Mathilde Marendaz, traveling to Gaza’s border from Egypt.

🎧 Why You Should Listen

This podcast is not just about a filmmaker. It’s about a voice silenced too soon, and about those who refuse to stay silent in return. Farsi’s words remind us that art, when grounded in truth and compassion, can carry a message that borders cannot stop.
