🕊️ Canadians March for Humanity at Gaza Border

A couple from Windsor, Ontario is preparing to join the Global March to Gaza, a large-scale, peaceful citizen mobilization converging at the Rafah border in Egypt. Their message: We cannot stay silent in the face of genocide.

đź’¬ Why Are They Marching?

  • Samar El-Masri and Arafet El-Masri say they are moved by the suffering of civilians in Gaza and want to act beyond social media.

  • Samar, a professor and human rights researcher, emphasizes:

“This is not just a march — it’s about showing that we, as citizens, care about human life.”

  • Arafet adds that while it’s a peaceful march, it is also a firm political message against the inaction of governments.

❓What Is the Goal of the March?

  • The Global March to Gaza seeks to:

    • End the blockade

    • Deliver humanitarian aid

    • Put pressure on the international community to act

  • Participants will gather in Cairo, then travel overland to the Rafah border crossing.

  • The action is non-violent, legal, and coordinated across over 35 countries.

🔎 What Sets This March Apart?

  • Samar highlights the moral duty of global citizens:

“If we cannot raise our voices when children are being killed, when hospitals are bombed, what kind of world are we living in?”

  • The couple will represent Canada alongside others from Europe, Latin America, and Africa.

📢 Standing on the Right Side of History

This grassroots movement is part of a rising global call for peace and justice, rooted in humanitarian law and conscience. As Samar El-Masri says:

“If governments remain silent, then it is up to the people to speak.”
